Meeting some italian Cougar friends would make a very good reason for another trip to Lago di Garda. :D
The only thing I don't like is the holes in the street. Some roads are pretty scary, especially with a lowered Coug :/
The opera in Verona is great. But we missed Juliet's balcony. I've heard that it is supposed to be around there but we didn't find it

Yes that's right Eric,
juliet's home is very near to the Arena. :D
And yes, here in Italy the State provides high taxes but we don't know why the money is never enought to rebuild roads....
and laws allows only a limit of 120mm from under oil cup to the ground.... so in this way you cannot customize a lot the Cougar here....
The only way is to re-register mods into Germany, but we don't know how to do this from Italy....
we're so afraid about that, we cannot also mount Strut bar braces, Germans are very luky!!!!

I didn't know that you have so many restrictions on how to modify your car. I thought the laws in Germany are strict!
What do you mean re-register mods in Germany? Register you car in Germany?

Bye,
Tom

I don't know well, I'm getting informations:
basically I think that is possible come to Germany for 2 days and register here the car, after this reimport to italy (because you also allows temporary license plates...here NOT).
But the first thing is obtaining the "NullaOsta" (Factory/Manufacturer Permission paper/agreement of mods), here in Ford Italy refuses both Strut bar braces Fornt&rear, lowered springs, exhausts and intake cone filter..... everything!!!! Maybe if I find a contact to Ford Deutsche, they can give me an international Permission Paper....
I hope....

So when you import a car to Italy you have to take it to the manufacturer and they have to give you a permission so you can register it?
Sounds strange.
It's pretty bad that they don't wanna give you a permission for a strut bar or a different air intake. Even those things are legal in Germany.
I think Ford Germany will send you back to Ford Italy. But maybe you are lucky and they will give you some sort of international permission papers.

Yes, it's very strange but unfortuntelly true.
Governments here prefers to don't give authorizations on costomized mods, in this way they can get more money by the tickets:
for example, if you haven't the stock air filter police can stop your car from 1 to 6 moths and intimate to pay 400Euro as a ticket.
If you have mounted front strut bar brace, you will never see back your car for 6 months and get a 600Euro ticket!
Very silly here, I understand, all this to make legal for the State Government by getting more money as possible from the people, NOT for grant security on the roads.

We call this "a mirror for the birds", a way to say that someone can be whatever he wants behind the mirrors, but everyone that looks at him can only see one another like himself.
Government here is behind the mirror.

This is a very bad situation.
Change the air intake or installing a strut bar is nothing what might have a negative side effect on your cars security.

If you reall wanna try to re-import it and you need some help in Germany, just let us know.

Otherwise the german NECO community will put some pressure on them ;)
Keep us up to date about the status with them.

P.S.: Even the laws are so strict in Italy I'd like to have a nice house at Lago di Garda 8)
